The streaming website ‘Netflix’ recently released a short trailer for the award-winning French film ‘Quetz’ and announced that the film would be released on September 9 this month.
“Quetz” was screened at film festivals in other countries, including France, and won awards before its official release.
In the trailer of the film itself, very young girls can be seen in a bold style, on which people from all over the world expressed their anger on the web streaming website and demanded not to release the said film.
People objected to the trailer of the film, which portrayed an 11-year-old Muslim girl as extremely bold and sexually inclined in the film, and launched an online campaign against Netflix, demanding that she not release ‘Quotes’. ۔
An online petition was filed by Naveed Wardak on the Change Organization platform against Quetz, asking Netflix not to release the film.
As of the morning of September 2, more than 1.5 million people had signed the petition and demanded that Netflix not release Quitz.
Supporting the same campaign, Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi also tweeted against Netflix and demanded from the streaming website to cancel the release of the said film, otherwise he would cancel the Netflix subscription.
Like Hamza Ali Abbasi, others around the world have threatened Netflix to cancel the release of ‘Quotes’, otherwise they will cancel the subscription to the streaming website.
A few days ago, after criticizing ‘Quotes’, Netflix clarified in a tweet that it had removed the controversial images from the film and that the scenes shown in the film did not reflect the policy of the streaming website. ۔
However, public outcry against Netflix continues and it is being demanded to cancel the release of ‘Quotes’, but so far the streaming website has not made any statement regarding the cancellation of the release of the film.
The story of ‘Quetz’ is believed to revolve around a refugee family in the African country of Senegal and the teenage 11-year-old girl of that family reaching puberty.
Its horrifying to see a show in the mainstream blatantly sexualising 11 yr old kids. If this show is still there by next month..i am canceling my Netflix subscription and so should you.
