Pakistani singer and model Shaira Rai, who was born as a boy and changed her gender before puberty, is generally considered a transgender singer.

In a recent interview with Independent Urdu, Rai spoke openly about her gender and life for the first time and how she faced problems before she underwent gender reassignment.
The poetess said that she was a boy from birth to almost adolescence, but she never had boyish feelings and she looked like a girl.

According to the singer, she was aware of her sexual problems since childhood and her mother was also aware of her worries but no one believed her and everyone thought that she was making excuses and acting.
