ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court (AC) has issued a warrant for the arrest of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on bail.
Judge Syed Asghar Ali of Islamabad Accountability Court No. 1 heard the case. During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor told the court that the summons of Nawaz Sharif’s residence chief had been complied with, but the guard posted at Nawaz Sharif’s house, Abdul Majeed, refused to accept the summons.
The court issued a bailable arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif while granting Asif Zardari’s request for exemption from one day’s attendance.
The accountability court ordered Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Anwar Majeed and Abdul Ghani Majeed to appear at the next hearing in any case. The court directed to provide copies of the reference and adjourned the hearing till June 11.
What is a reference box?
Yousuf Raza Gilani is accused of illegally allocating vehicles to Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif. In this reference, the head of Omni Group Khawaja Anwar Majeed and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majeed have also been named as accused.
According to the NAB reference, Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif got the vehicles from Tosha Khana by paying only 15% of the price of the vehicles. Yousuf Raza Gilani facilitated Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari in this regard and illegally softened the procedure of accepting and rejecting gifts
