LOC: 2 civilians martyred, 2 injured in unprovoked firing by Indian Army

Two civilians were martyred and two others were injured in unprovoked firing by the Indian Army on the Line of Control (LoC) in violation of the ceasefire.

India’s ceasefire violation comes a few hours after Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the front lines on the Line of Control and sent a clear message to India that India’s ceasefire Violations of will be met with a stern response.

The killings took place in the Chakri sector of Azad Kashmir’s Haveli district as a result of unprovoked firing by the Indian Army.

Shaukat Mirza, a senior police official in Haveli, while talking to media persons, said that the Indian Army started shelling with heavy weapons at 5.30 pm using mortars and artillery and this process is still going on intermittently. ۔

As a result of the shelling, 50-year-old Rashida Bibi of Kearney village was killed and her 11-year-old son was injured, he said.

He said that 16-year-old Zobia was also martyred in the same village while 55-year-old Roshan Bibi was also injured in the firing.

Both the injured have been admitted to an army-run hospital at the district headquarters where their condition is out of danger.

According to Syed Shahid Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Secretary, Civil Defense and Disaster Management, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, at least four civilians were killed and 24 others injured in unprovoked firing by India in April alone.

Since the beginning of 2020, at least six people, including minors, have been martyred and more than 61 injured as a result of the Indian incursion, while people’s property has been severely damaged.

The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider, condemned the Indian firing on the social networking site Twitter and warned the international community of the dire consequences of remaining silent on Indian initiatives.

He said in his tweet that the loss of two human lives as a result of unprovoked firing and ceasefire violation by India is very regrettable.

“I warn the international community once again that turning a blind eye to India’s provocative actions will have a devastating effect on South Asia,” he said.

It should be noted that two days ago, a woman resident of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was martyred and a girl was injured as a result of unprovoked firing by the Indian Army.

Pakistan had summoned the Indian charge d’affaires to protest India’s unprovoked firing that killed a civilian and violated the ceasefire.

Earlier on April 13, a 2-year-old child was killed and four others were injured in a ceasefire violation and unprovoked firing by the Indian Army
