KARACHI: Javed Miandad has termed ‘intelligent’ Quinton de Kock as right while on Fakhar Zaman’s controversial run out, the former great cricketer said that a batsman should cherish his wicket like his first love.
In the last over of the second ODI, South African wicketkeeper Quentin de Kock paved the way for a run out to Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman with a fake fielding. Quinton de Kock move is being heavily criticized, but former captain and great batsman Javed Miandad considers him right and calls him a smart cricketer.
In an interview to a news agency, he said that no cricketer can take his eyes off the ball in any situation, you should love your wicket as much as a man loves you, when you do that. Then there are no such run outs.
The former captain said that he had heard that the Pakistani team itself had been using such tactics to throw dust in the eyes of the opposing side. He said that we used to do the same. Yes, but in fact he tries to run out the opponent by throwing it towards the wicket keeper, it should be considered as cunning.
It may be recalled that in the second ODI, the Pakistan team lost by 17 runs due to which the series ended in a 1-1 draw and the third match became decisive
