Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings

Abu Dhabi: Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by 8 wickets in the crucial match of PSL Six.

In the match of the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League in Abu Dhabi, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the toss and invited Karachi Kings to bat first. Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam started the innings aggressively but Sharjeel was dismissed for 25 runs. Martin Guptill was the guest of 6 runs.

Babar Azam and Najibullah Zardani formed a crucial 117-run partnership, during which both batsmen completed their half-centuries. Babar Azam was dismissed for 81 while Najibullah remained unbeaten on 71.
Aqif Javed, Hassan Ali, Ali Khan and Muhammad Waseem took one wicket each for Islamabad United.

When Islamabad United started batting, Usman Khawaja and Colin Monroe came to the crease. Usman Khawaja was dismissed for 12 in the fourth over. He was replaced by Mohammad Akhlaq and returned to the pavilion for just one run in the fifth over.

Iftikhar Ahmed and one down Colin Monroe, who came to the crease at number four, showed excellent partnership and led the team to victory and remained unbeaten on the crease till the last moment.

Colin Monroe scored 88 off 56 balls, including two sixes and 12 fours, while Iftikhar Ahmed scored 71 off 39 balls, including five sixes and five fours.

Islamabad United achieved the target of 191 runs off 18.4 balls.

It should be noted that Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars thanks to the aggressive batting of Asif Ali and secured the first position in the points table.
