Tehran: Mohsen Fakhrizada, 59, a leading Iranian scientist and head of the nuclear program, was assassinated in the Damavand area of the capital.
According to the international news agency, Mohsen Fakhrizada, a nuclear scientist known as the “father of the atomic bomb” in Iran, was seriously injured in the attack on his car.
A statement from Iran’s Defense Ministry said that gunmen opened fire on the scientist’s car, in which his bodyguards returned fire, killing Mohsen Fakhrizada. ۔
Mentioning the name of Mohsen Fakhrizada, who is considered close to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, during a press conference, the Israeli Prime Minister said that his name should be remembered. Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif has blamed Israel for the scientist’s death.
It should be noted that Israel had started a series of targeted killings of Iranian nuclear scientists almost 10 years ago and Mohsen Fakhrzada, who runs Iran’s secret nuclear program, was also being threatened.
