The technology developed by the MIT specialist for liver fibrosis uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to detect changes in the hydrogen atoms of water in the body, but as soon as the water is removed from the liver fat As it passes, its speed and condition change and thus the health of the liver can be assessed.
Michael Kaima, the spirit of the technology, says the NMR detector examined the mice up to a depth of six millimeters, which was enough to show the liver. From there, they detected liver fibrosis and cirrhosis with an accuracy of up to 92%.
When tested on humans, liver fibrosis was found to be 93% accurate, which is undoubtedly a great achievement. In the next phase, they will develop a more in-depth penetrating detector, but it is expected that a way to control the deadly disease from the beginning will be found.
