Karachi: Actress Sara Khan says that instead of women, we need to teach men how to talk, how to sit up and how to look at women.
Artists from the Pakistan Showbiz Industry arrived at the Karachi Press Club to protest against the mass rape of a woman on the Lahore Motorway, where they called for a change in the law punishing perpetrators of rape in the country. Demanded a safe country for the protection of women and children.
Several artists including Sara Khan, Mahira Khan, Ayesha Umar, Mansha Pasha, Yasir Hussain, Ali Rehman Khan participated in the protest. On this occasion, actress Sara Khan said that this is the first time that I am participating in a protest. Women are not safe in our country at all, women, aren’t our children safe here? So instead of teaching our women, we should teach men how to look at women, how to talk, how to get up, how to sit.
“The perpetrators of rape should be punished severely and if they are not punished, I am sorry to say that I do not want to live in this country,” she said.
Actress Mahira Khan said that harassment is everywhere but the real problem is mentality. Anyone who has abused women and children knows that I can do it and that is what we need to understand. Regarding the execution of the accused, Mahira Khan said that it is a matter of law whether to execute the accused or not but I believe that whatever punishment is given to the accused should be given in full.
Mahra Khan, in response to CCPO Lahore’s statement that it was not the time for the abused woman to get out of the house, said, “Then tell us, what time is it for women to get out of the house?” Do people leave from 2 to 3 p.m. Exit from 2 to 8 p.m. Explain where we are safe.
“As far as I know, women are not safe at home, they are not safe walking in the morning, they are not safe at night, they are not safe with their children in the car,” she said.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, a woman was gang-raped on the motorway in Gujjarpura area while she was returning to Gujranwala from Lahore with her children and relatives. This incident has once again shaken the whole of Pakistan. All people, including ministers, human rights organizations and artists, are protesting not only to bring justice to women, but also to punish the perpetrators of rape in the country
