I will coach Pakistani players in the style of Bob Woolmer,Younis Khan

Younis Khan, the batting coach of the national team for the tour of England, has said that he will try to transfer his experience to the young players and will coach the players in the style of Bob Woolmer.

It may be recalled that the Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed former national team captain Younis Khan as the batting coach of the Pakistan team for the tour of England.

Addressing an online press conference on Wednesday, Younis Khan explained the reason for joining the team, saying, “Pakistan has given me a lot of respect and fame and I think I am at that age where I share my experiences with young players.” So that I can give something back to Pakistan.

The former captain said in response to a question that I was told about my limits, what I have to do, I am one of those people who consider it their moral responsibility to work within their limits.

He said that when I was the captain, the reason for leaving my leadership was also because my former chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ijaz Butt was told that you will announce me as the captain until the 2011 World Cup and if the team is mine. If I can’t show leadership, I will leave leadership and that’s exactly what happened.

“I can’t say I don’t have time at all. We can do a lot better in a day or two if we want to. I will try to give my international cricket experience to the youngsters in the shortest possible time,” Younis said. But in the current situation it will be a bit difficult due to SOPs.

In response to another question, he said that Misbah-ul-Haq and I had ended our careers with a victory after winning the series in the West Indies and would like to link the series to where it ended.

Asked about becoming the head coach of the Pakistan team in the future, Younis said it would be premature for him to take such a big position in international cricket so soon as coaching in international cricket is very different from franchise and departmental cricket.

“There is no doubt about the abilities of Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq and in the presence of me and Misbah, they sometimes performed better than us and I will try to get them back to form and restore confidence,” Younis Khan said.

The first Pakistani batsman to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket said that he would try to coach the players in the same way as Bob Woolmer used to coach us, he used to teach us his tricks in our style.

“I learned from Bob Woolmer how he worked with Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Kamran Akmal, Abdul Razzaq and Shahid Afridi and how to get the player to work without tampering with the technique,” Younis said
