I want to play my last season for Quetta Gladiators, Shahid Afridi

Shahid Khan Afridi, a former captain of the Pakistan cricket team and representing the new champions Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has expressed his desire to play for the Quetta Gladiators for the last season of his career.

“I am part of the Multan Sultans at the moment and if they allow me, I would like to represent the Quetta Gladiators in my final season,” said Shahid Afridi.

The star all-rounder said he also trains to stay fit.

It may be recalled that Shahid Afridi was ruled out of the PSL this season due to a back injury while training, but his team Multan Sultans won the title without him.

Shahid Afridi said that he was not with the team in the PSK final but I was in constant touch with Muhammad Rizwan, Sohaib Maqsood and Shaun Masood through messaging.

“I used to guide them and share my experiences on the importance of big matches, especially the final, and how to win now,” he said.

He congratulated the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for holding the remaining matches of the PSL despite the difficulties but the desired results were not achieved until the league was in Pakistan.

Asked about the comparison of PSL with other leagues, he said that apart from the compensation paid to the players, there is no significant difference between PSL and Indian Premier League (IPL).

He said that the main purpose of organizing cricket leagues is to bring out new talent and PSL has provided a large number of good players.

Referring to the T20 World Cup, he said that preparations for the World Cup should start 8 months in advance and too many changes in the team could create problems in making a successful team combination.
