Huawei announces next year that it will introduce phones equipped with Harmony OS

Huawei has announced that it will introduce smartphones equipped with its Harmony operating system in 2021.

The announcement was made by the Chinese company at the annual developer conference recently.

The production of phones equipped with Harmony OS is subject to Huawei Mobile Services, meaning how many apps the company adds to its app gallery.

Huawei Mobile Services was introduced when access to Google Play services was cut due to US restrictions.

So far, 96,000 apps have been added to the Huawei App Gallery, up from 81,000 in July and 60,000 in March.

In comparison, the number of apps in Google Play and Apple App Store is in the millions.

To bring more apps into its ecosystem, Huawei has announced a beta version of Harmony OS 2. which will be introduced to mobile developers by the end of this year.

It also hints that Huawei phones will currently use the Android operating system.

Huawei’s new user interface EMUI 11 was also introduced at the developer conference, which will work on Android only, but Android 10 was given more priority instead of Android 11.

It is believed that Huawei was blacklisted by the US last year and blocked from accessing the technology of US companies including Google, after which Huawei created an alternative to the Android app ecosystem.

Harmony OS 2.0 will first be part of tablets, car systems and smartwatches.

Huawei’s operating system has now reached 490 million people through various hardware devices and now it wants to expand.

To this end, Huawei has also entered into agreements with a number of home appliance manufacturers in China, most notably car manufacturers.

Huawei Smart Watches had a market share of 8.3 percent in the first quarter of this year, up 2.8 percent from the same period last year.

Huawei sold 105 million smartphones in the first six months of this year, up from 118 million in the same period last year.

US sanctions and the Corona virus epidemic have affected smartphone sales on Huawei devices.

However, the company’s revenue during the period stood at 255 billion yuan, up from 220 billion yuan in the same period last year.
