Silent killer
“Risks can be reduced without medication, including less salt and sugar, a balanced diet, daily exercise and a less stressful life,” he said.
High blood pressure is a silent killer that can severely damage many parts of the body, including the kidneys and eyes, he said.
Civil Hospital Karachi Medical Superintendent (MS) Prof. Muhammad Soomro spoke about the facilities provided at the hospital for heart patients coming from remote areas of the province and said that the hospital does its best to help poor families. ۔
Professor Ishaq, who represents the Pakistan Hypertension League, said he first noticed in 2005 that high blood pressure was becoming a global epidemic.
“There is an urgent need for public awareness. There is a serious lack of awareness and negligence about this disease, which is a major risk factor for other diseases, including heart disease and diabetes,” he said.
“Patients with high blood pressure have to take medication regularly or they will risk their lives,” he said.
“Hypertension increases the risk of serious health complications such as heart disease, heart attack and can sometimes lead to death, but changes in eating habits and lifestyle reduce this risk,” he said.
