Great Pakistani cricketers will coach young players online

Sports activities around the world have been shut down due to the corona virus and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to take advantage of the services of former great players on this occasion.

The PCB has decided to train  young cricketers during the lockdown and great Pakistani cricketers like Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram will coach young players online.

These coaching sessions have been organized by the Pakistan Cricket Team Management in collaboration with the Department of International Cricket Operations where the team management is taking unique steps to keep the players engaged in the game during this difficult time and thanks to this the youth will be trained to great players. There will also be an opportunity to learn from experiences.

Along with Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram, Hamad Yousaf, Moin Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Rashid Latif, Shoaib Akhtar and Younis Khan will also brief the players on their experiences and the nuances of the game and the players’ strategies regarding a series or tournament. We will also get acquainted with the preparations and other important issues.

In these sessions, Javed Miandad, Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan will talk to 21 batsmen in three different sessions while Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar will give lectures to 13 fast bowlers.

In addition, six spinners will be coached by Mushtaq Ahmed while Moin Khan and Rashid Latif will guide the five wicket-keepers.

Representing Pakistan in 357 international matches from 1975 to 1996, Javed Miandad, who scored more than 16,000 runs, will give a lecture to the players on Monday while Wasim Akram will teach the bowlers to fall on Tuesday.

National team head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq said that he was grateful to all the cricketers who agreed to share their experiences with these young and emerging cricketers.

“These players have very inspiring stories and I want our players to try to learn from what they hear from them,” he said.

“We are moving forward with the idea that the next series is from England. Most of these players have been part of the team that won the series in England, so they know how to prepare for the series,” he said.

Former Pakistan great Javed Miandad said, “I would be happy to share my thoughts on cricket with these young players. I have never played book cricket but I have done research on the game to meet my needs.” That’s the decent thing to do, and it should end there.

They will introduce these young players to an aspect that will improve their individual and team performance, this is my team and these are my players and I will do whatever I can to improve their performance. Û”

Expressing happiness over the development, Naseem Shah, a young fast bowler of the national team, said, “I can listen to these great players of Pakistan cricket for a week. They are role models for all of us and listening to their stories is a great experience.”

“Listening to Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram will be the most interesting stage and we will get a chance to know how they tested their opponents and how they overcame them with their ability and fast bowling,” he said.
