Wasim Khan, chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has ruled out the possibility of a Pak-India series in the near future, saying it was unrealistic to think of a series between the two countries.
“Unfortunately, we have to forget about playing India for a while, this cricket, for us and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),” he said in a YouTube program. It is very sad for the fans because we have a good relationship with the BCCI.
“Before playing Pakistan, the BCCI has to get approval from its government, which is unfortunate. At the moment, we are not thinking of playing India because it is unrealistic for both the teams,” he said.
“We may get a chance to play India in the future but it is not possible at the moment and I think we should forget to think about playing India in the near future as the World Cup and international cricket,” he said. This is not possible without council tournaments.
On this occasion, he mentioned the difficulties faced by the Corona virus and said that these are difficult situations but I am thankful to the PCB who planned on an emergency basis.
Waseem Khan, who represented the record-winning doubles in 2013, said: “We have reviewed the whole situation and the financial situation for three years. We have no problem with Corona for two and a half, three years.”
“That’s why we’re looking for revenue opportunities from commercial sources so that we don’t have to rely on ICC tournaments, funding and broadcasting money just because you know the worldwide broadcasting market,” he said. Major contracts have expired.
“Gone are the days when Sky paid England 1. 1.1 billion in broadcasting rights, so now we have to find new broadcasting and media partners,” said the PCB chief executive.
“So the situation will be difficult for us, but we have planned the worst and hopefully we will be in a good position,” he said.
