For the first time, Amazon has nominated a black woman for a top position

Technology Amazon.com has nominated a black woman for the company’s top leadership council for the first time.

This is the second time Amazon has made such a change since last year when it faced severe criticism for its black, male majority in top positions.

According to a Bloomberg report, Alicia Bowler Davis, who oversees Amazon’s warehouse network as vice president, is one of three executives nominated for the company’s S-Team.

The S-Team is a group of leaders who, along with CEO Jeff Bezos, set the company’s priorities.

For many years, Beth Galetti, head of human resources at Amazon, was the only woman on the S-Team.

According to company data, in 2019, 57% of employees at Amazon were male, while 73% of managers were male.

However, critics say that there are more men than women on Amazon’s top council.

Amazon then hired Colin O’Brien and Christine Beau-Champ of the company’s fashion business in the advertising unit.

In addition, the company has adopted another role, which will consider the inclusion of women and people of other nationalities in the board of directors.

Announcing Alicia Bowler, Jeff Wilke, chief executive officer of Amazon’s worldwide consumer division, praised her for her leadership and technical skills and said she made a great start at Amazon.

The other two new members of the S-Team include Delivery Executives John Felton and E-Commerce Services Vice President Dave Treadwell.

Amazon’s S-Team currently consists of 26 people.
