Financial irregularities amounting to Rs 2.77 billion revealed in PSL One and Two

ISLAMABAD: Financial irregularities amounting to Rs 2.77 billion have been revealed in the first and second seasons of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

According to the express news A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament was held under the chairmanship of Rana Tanveer in which the special audit report of Pakistan Super League One and Two was reviewed.

The meeting revealed financial irregularities amounting to Rs 2.77 billion in PSL One and Two. According to the audit report, three teams in the PSL, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta’s franchises were sold at a low price, causing a loss of 11 1.1 million annually to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to the audit report, the PCB paid more than the stipulated amount to the franchise owners from the Central Pool and the PCB paid an additional Rs 248.6 million to the franchise owners.

Explaining in the meeting, Ehsan Mani said that the situation was difficult at that time and it was necessary to hold PSL. Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PAPRA) rules do not apply to PCB.

Committee member Naveed Qamar said the PCB would be independent but owned by the government. The IPC secretary said that the PCB says that we do not take a single penny from the government, at that time the PAPRA rules did not apply to the auction of teams.

The Public Accounts Committee directed a departmental inquiry into the financial irregularities of the PSL and directed the Secretary IPC to investigate and report within a month.

Noor Alam Khan said that if you don’t think that there will be any theft in PCB then we will not catch it. Chairman PAC asked why the special audit report of Pakistan Cricket Board did not come. Chairman PCB Ehsan Mani replied that he only supervises, does not interfere in every matter of the institution.

Expressing anger over the response of the Chairman PCB, PAC said that you are the head of the institution and responsible, do not talk irresponsibly, you have to account for every penny.

Chairman PAC Rana Tanveer, while adjourning the meeting, said that the audit objections would be reviewed after receiving the inquiry report.
