LAHORE: Prominent national cricketer Fakhar Zaman has shown signs of fever due to which he was dropped from the tour of New Zealand.
According to the media left-arm opener Fakhar Zaman will not leave for New Zealand with the national squad. On Sunday, Fakhar Zaman showed symptoms of fever. Despite several check-ups by the team doctor, Fakhar Zaman’s fever did not decrease.
The team management has decided that Fakhar Zaman will not leave for New Zealand on the morning of November 23 with the national squad for the health and safety of other players and sports staff in the squad. He has also decided not to take any alternative.
Fakhar-e-Zaman has been completely isolated after the onset of fever. In this regard, the Medical Panel of the PCB is in constant touch with Fakhar Zaman and will remain in touch with him till his full recovery.
Dr. Sohail Saleem, a team doctor and head of the PCB Medical Panel, who was part of the national squad for the tour of New Zealand, said that the report of the Corna test for Fakhar Zaman along with other members of the squad on November 21 was also negative. However, on November 22, they showed signs of high fever.
“As soon as Fakhar Zaman showed signs of fever, he was immediately isolated from the rest of the squad. We are in constant touch with Fakhar Zaman but we cannot compromise on the health and safety of other members of the squad,” he said.
It should be noted that the national squad will leave Lahore for New Zealand at 3 am on Monday.
