Electric and magnetic therapy for diabetes

Iowa: American scientists have discovered after experiments on mice that the electric and magnetic field (EMF) helps in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but these effects last for a long time.

The study, co-led by Sunny Huang and Calvin Carter of Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa, placed mice with type 2 diabetes in a static EMF field for two hours a day, for three days. ۔

The rats’ blood sugar and insulin sensitivity were then assessed to show that they had returned to normal. It should be noted that blood sugar and insulin sensitivity (ie performance) are considered to be the two most important measures of measuring the severity of diabetes.

Significantly, blood sugar and insulin levels returned to normal in mice that had been diagnosed with diabetes through genetic mutations, while the effects of the electromagnetic field persisted for several days.

During the experiments, the magnetic field magnitude was 100 times greater than our ground magnetic field, but this magnitude is harmless to living things.

In other experiments, diabetic human pancreatic cells, when placed in a stationary electromagnetic field, were found to restore their ability to make insulin.

After successful experiments on mice, these scientists now plan to test the same method on humans, but for this they will need permission from the relevant institutions.

However, he hopes that the same strategy will be as effective for humans as it is for mice, after which he is thinking of developing a system that will be turned on at night and the diabetic patient will be up all night. Will sleep in this environment. This will make it easier and safer to treat type 2 diabetes.

Details of the study are published online in the latest issue of the research journal Cell Metabolism.
