Dates of the remaining four matches of Pakistan Super League 2020 announced

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a new schedule for the Pakistan Super League 2020 matches, which have been postponed due to the corona virus.

The Pakistan Super League was postponed indefinitely on March 17 due to the corona virus and play-off matches were yet to be held.

The decision to hold the league could not be taken due to the global epidemic, but after the revival of international cricket and the national team’s successful tour of England in the wake of the virus, the PCB has announced the remaining matches of the league. ۔

The remaining four matches of the league will be played on November 14, 15 and 17 in Lahore and the qualifier and the first eliminator will be on November 14.

The second eliminator will be held on November 15, while the final match will be played on November 17.

The board said that the dates of the event have been finalized after consultation with the four teams Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi and details of match times will be released later.

Due to the corona virus, all four matches of the league will be played under load protocols in which all players, match officials and relevant staff will be in a bio-secure environment.

According to the PCB, all four matches are likely to be played behind closed doors without spectators, but a final decision will be made in October.

Welcoming the hosts, Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Wasim Khan said the PCB was committed to hosting the matches from the outset as the board believed the winner of such an event should come forward.

He said that holding the remaining matches of the league also confirms that Pakistan has managed to overcome the corona virus epidemic and like other sports, the new domestic cricket season is starting soon and domestic matches are being played. The successful organization of Pakistan Super League 2021 in February-March next year will be helpful.

It should be noted that out of the four teams that will compete in the remaining four matches of the league, only Peshawar Zalmi’s team has the honor of becoming the first champion while Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans have not been able to get this honor till date. ۔

The qualifier match will be played between Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings on November 14 and Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi will compete in the first eliminator on the same day.

The team that loses the qualifier in the second eliminator will compete against the winner of the first eliminator on November 7, while the league final will be held on November 17.

Multan Sultans are leading the league with 14 points while Karachi Kings are second with 11 points and Lahore Qalandars are third with 10 points.

Former champion Peshawar Zalmi and defending champion Quetta Gladiators had the same 9 points but based on better run rate, Zalmi managed to make it to the final four.

Two-time champions Islamabad United finished last with 7 points.

The winning team of the league will be given a prize money of 5 500,000 while the runner-up will get  200,000.
