Corona tests of two Zimbabwean players came positive

Two members of the Zimbabwean team and two members of the support staff announced for the tour of Pakistan tested positive for corona virus.

The 25-member preliminary squad announced by Pakistan included Regis Chakaboa and Tammy Sen Moroma, who were due to travel to Pakistan but were not included in the 20-member squad that arrived in Pakistan.

Chakaboa and Maruma lived in the same room in the Biosecure Bubble at the Zimbabwe Cricket Academy in Harare, and both tested positive for Corona.

After that, all the players who came in contact with him were screened and tested, as a result of which two members of the support staff tested positive.

All four have been instructed to remain in quarantine and have therefore not been made part of the tour of Pakistan.

Despite the test being positive, Zimbabwe’s tour to Pakistan did not go down well and the Zimbabwean team has arrived in Pakistan, which was housed in a separate hotel from the four before arriving here.

Before leaving for Pakistan, the tests of all the people were negative and after coming to Pakistan, the results of the tests were also negative.

The Zimbabwean team is currently in quarantine, which ends on Tuesday, and will be re-tested once the quarantine is completed.

A statement from Zimbabwe Cricket said Chakabwa and Maruma and two members of the support staff had been infected and were currently in isolation under Code 19 protocol.

“We hope that all four will recover soon and be part of the team again,” the board said.

It should be noted that the Zimbabwean team is on a tour of Pakistan for three ODIs and T20 matches.

It was announced by the PCB yesterday that the corona tests of the national team players before the series against Zimbabwe have turned negative, after which the players have gone into the bio-secure bubble.
