Exeter: A 600-year-old pedestrian walkway from a beach to a small island in the UK is also a terrifying route where 100 people have lost their lives so far.
The 600-year-old Bromway is a sidewalk that runs from the coast of Essex to the island of Fool Ness and is only walkable. But in the fog of winter, people get lost and die. For this reason, it can be called the most terrible way in Britain.
The record of this route is also found in 1419 and it is six miles (approximately) 10 kilometers long. Broomeway is made of mud and sand. In many places, tree branches have been swept into the ground with brooms to determine the boundaries of the path. Otherwise, water gets on the dirt and mud paths, which gets lost. That is why it is also called the ‘broomway’.
In winter, you get lost in the fog, or in the rising tide. In this case, those who walk here get lost and drown. On the other hand, on the rough uneven path there are pits, swamps and slopes which are enough to swallow human beings. That is why this road is closed even in heavy rains.
Even in ordinary days, there are ups and downs in the waves at different times of the day and people get trapped there and lose their lives. Famous historians like Philip Benton also got lost on the same path. The bodies of 66 people have been found since 1600, but there are dozens of others whose bodies could not be found and were hijacked.
It is also called the deceitful path because even in the best of weathers, a little roughness of the sea makes the path narrow or disappears from sight. So far, this is the only way to reach Folinis Island on foot, and no modern road has been built due to lack of transportation.
