Asia Cup held in uncertain conditions: Chairman PCB

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ehsan Mani has said that due to lockdown worldwide due to Corona virus this year Asia Cup is being held in uncertain condition and the event has been questioned.

The Asia Cup is scheduled for September this year and Pakistan is to host the event this year.

According to reports, Ehsan Mani said that the Asia Cup is suffering from uncertain conditions, no decision has been made yet as the situation around the world is extremely uncertain at this time.

“We do not know what the situation will be until September, do not get me wrong, but the holding of the event depends on many factors,” he said.

Chairman PCB said that speculation would not happen, we can only hope that the situation will clear in a month.

Meanwhile,  Ganguly, head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has already confirmed that both Pakistan and India will attend the Asia Cup but no decision has been made regarding the location of the event.

Pakistan will host the event this year but due to the stress of Pak-India, it is almost impossible for the Indian team to come to Pakistan, so if the event is held then the Asia Cup will probably be held at a neutral place.

The event was hosted by India last time, but the Asia Cup was held in the United Arab Emirates due to India’s refusal of visa to Pakistani players.

If the Asia Cup is held this year, it will be played in T20 format for the T20 World Cup.

It is important to note that due to the corona virus, sports competitions around the world including Olympics, Euro Cup and Wimbledon have been canceled and this year’s scheduled T20 World Cup is also going on indefinitely.

Earlier this month, organizers of the T20 World Cup had said that it had not yet decided to cancel the event and they were reviewing the situation.

The T20 World Cup is scheduled in Australia from October 18 to November 15 this year, in which the West Indies will defend their honor.
