Former national team captain Shahid Khan Afridi has said that cricket relations between Pakistan and India cannot be restored as long as Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of India.
Pak since Narendra Modi came to power. Relations between India and Pakistan have continued to deteriorate, and last year relations between the two countries soured to the point that troops were deployed along the border.
Relations between the two countries took a turn for the worse last year after India’s special status for Occupied Kashmir was revoked.

No bilateral series has been played between Pakistan and India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. A short series was played between the two countries in 2012-13 but the situation has remained tense since Narendra Modi came to power.
In an interview to Arab News, Shahid Afridi said that the government of Pakistan is constantly ready but given the current government of India, there is no possibility of restoring cricket relations between the two countries as long as Modi is in power. Until then, I don’t think that’s possible.

It may be recalled that relations between Pakistan and India were very tense even in 1987, but the then President General Zia-ul-Haq used cricket diplomacy to improve relations, while in 2005 the then President General Pervez Musharraf visited India to watch the match. The two countries had agreed to open the Kashmir border as a result of the visit.
Imran Khan should fulfill pre-poll promises
Referring to the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Shahid Afridi said that as Prime Minister we should not expect him to fix decades old problems in a few years.
However, he said that now is the time for Imran Khan to fulfill his pre-election promises, this is a great opportunity because the army and the judiciary are with him and everyone is on the same page.
He said that there is a suitable wicket and pitch for the Prime Minister to succeed, so the Prime Minister needs a strong team to succeed.
The former all-rounder, while opposing the stance of publicly punishing the accused involved in gang rape, said that they should not be hanged in public but should immediately set an example by hanging the accused involved in such crimes.
