Announcement to start 5G service in Pakistan from July next year

KARACHI: Federal Minister IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haq has said that the manufacturing of smartphones has started in Pakistan and 5G will be launched in Pakistan by July 2023.

Addressing the Career Fest 2022 organized by the Department of Computer Science, University of Karachi, he said that the needs of the future can be met with the cooperation of IT industries and universities. Accessibility should be made possible.

He said that compared to the exports of other 43 ministries of Pakistan, the highest increase in exports has occurred in IT-related communication. The exports of other ministries have increased by two to three percent, while the exports of IT-related communication have increased by 47.44%. The percentage has increased.

Aminul Haque said that in 2019-20 there was 75 million dollars for start-ups, while in 2020 it was increased to 373 million dollars and it will be taken up to 500 million dollars.

The Federal Minister said that there is no sign of corruption in the Ministry of IT and Communication and whoever is found involved in corruption will not remain in the Ministry. When we took over the ministry, our exports were 1.4 billion dollars and today it has increased to 2.6 billion dollars while our target is 05 billion dollars.

He said that today is not the era of flour and dal, rice, but the era of information technology because technology is being embedded very rapidly in every sphere of life, such as architecture, defense system, health etc. We must act now to achieve the 2050 goals.

He congratulated the Department of University of Karachi and especially the Department of Computer Science and thus emphasized on organizing the programs regularly.

On this occasion, University of Karachi Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood-Iraqi said that universities are generally the center of nurturing creative thinking, innovation and new research. There is no lack of intelligence and creative thinking among our youth, it is necessary to provide them with support and facilities to implement their creative thinking and creations.

He said that collaboration between universities and industries is inevitable and collaboration with industries is one of the top priorities of universities. We organize various seminars and conferences from time to time in collaboration with industries to align our students with the needs of the market. .

On this occasion, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Nadeem Mahmood, gave a detailed explanation on the purpose and objectives of the career fest and thanked all the guests.

University of Karachi Student Affairs Adviser Dr. Syed Asim Ali, while performing the duties of Nizamat, also informed the attendees about the stalls set up in the careerfest.
