American actress punished for admitting daughters to college by paying bribe

Leading actress Lori Laughlin, 56, and her husband, fashion designer Mosmo Gianoli, have been convicted by a US court of bribery in a shocking college admission scandal in late 2018 and early 2019.

According to the Associated Press (AP), the two celebrities were heard in a district court in Boston, Massachusetts, via video link.

Lori Laughlin and her husband, Mosmo Gianoli, were arraigned in the same court. The court sentenced the first husband to five months in prison, a few hours after which the actress was sent to prison for two months.

The couple had already pleaded guilty in court and have not yet clarified the charges against them.

He was accused of paying a bribe of کی 500,000 to enroll his two young daughters in college at the University of Southern California.

The two initially denied the allegations after the case went to court, but later confessed to the crimes.

He was indicted by the US Department of Justice last year.

The BBC reported that although the court had sentenced Lori Laughlin and her husband, Wasmo Gyanoli, to life in prison, the court had overturned a lawsuit filed by both defendants with the US Department of Justice. Also approved the request.

Both will have to pay a fine and a few hours of community service, which will end their jail term.

According to an agreement reached between the two figures and the Justice Department, Lori Laughlin will have to pay ڈی 1.5 million and at least 100 hours of community service.

Similarly, her husband, Mosmo Gyanoli, will have to spend ڈھ 250,000 and 250 hours of community service.

The two broadcasters will have to surrender to police by 2pm on November 19 this year, following court orders, CNN reported, citing the same report.

According to the court order, both can surrender before November if they wish, but their deadline is November 19.

Even before actress Lori Laughlin and her husband Mosmo Gianoli, a US court has convicted several key figures in the case.

The college admission scandal came to light at the end of 2018 and in March 2019, the US Department of Justice had indicted 50 key figures involved in the scandal for enrolling their children in college in exchange for bribes.

In the same case, in September last year, a US court sentenced actress Felicity Huffman to 14 days in prison.

In addition, in this case, the most important, influential and richest personalities connected with sports, fashion, media, technology and business are also facing legal action by the courts.
