Almost the same squad will go to the World Cup, which will be selected for the tour of England, Misbah Ul Haq

National team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has expressed concern over the failure of Pakistan’s middle order in whiteball cricket and said that the squad that will be selected for the tour of England will be more or less the same in the World Cup.

Misbah-ul-Haq told an online press conference on his return home after the demise of South Africa and Zimbabwe: “Overall, our bowling performance in both the series has been very good. We have played well in Test matches as well as T20 and ODIs.” The top order performed well in the day matches.

“There are some issues with the good things and middle order issues in white ball cricket in both South Africa and Zimbabwe. We need to work on this soon as the World Cup is coming up and we Something has to be done to suit this.

“We will try to continue this performance, the limited overs series against England is very important to us and then there is the series against the West Indies and we will try to win there as well,” he said.

The head coach of the national team said that Babar Azam’s confidence as a captain is increasing, with the victory the confidence increases and the decision making power improves and at present Babar’s performance is very satisfactory.

Asked about the late chances for the players, Misbah said, “Some of the team combinations are such that you can’t come into the team even after performing for a long time, like Younis Khan when I was performing.” Muhammad Yusuf and Inzamam-ul-Haq were in the middle order and could not find a place in the team. It was difficult to get opportunities. Similarly, Fawad Alam was unfortunate that when he was performing, there was a middle order set. Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq and I were in the team and if we were all performing, there would be no place.

“As far as giving opportunities at the age of 34, 35 or 36 is concerned, I believe that if a player is fit and performing, he should get opportunities as long as he can play well,” he said. One should not think that it will play for one year or two years.

He said that now it is time to form a squad for the World Cup, the squad to be selected from England for the series will be more or less the same squad for the World Cup and the rest of the PSL matches will be held. Will also help form a squad.

Asked about playing against weaker teams, Misbah said, “If we keep thinking about ourselves, the game will not progress. All the teams that are at the top today, at one time they were weak, if they don’t play.” How will they get acquainted with world cricket?

“It’s important to play with strong teams as well, because that gives you a chance to learn a lot and improve your game,” he said.
